Emirati Majlis Experience : Ever wondered what the story is behind Emirati traditional clothing? Wanted to know what goes behind choosing the perfect combination of traditional dress and perfume? Curious about the manners and customs of attending a Majlis, the central gathering space of an Emirati home? Then join us in entering an Emirati household in which you will begin your experience with learning the history and role of the Majlis in the Emirates, understanding the different uses of the Majlis across time. This conversation will be complemented with freshly made traditional Majlis snacks, such as Luqaimat and locally sourced dates, as well as drinking locally made gahwa (Arabic coffee) and chai (tea). Then your experienced local tour guide will teach you the history and culture of traditional Emirati clothing; learning everything from how “Oud” (traditional perfume) is created to how one creates an Arab “Mandoos Box”.

General Étiquettes
The dress code in the UAE is based on respect for the local culture and religion. Given that we will be visiting a private home in an Emirati neighborhood, we kindly request that you dress modestly. Guests are expected to cover shoulders, knees, chests, and backs. Clothing should not indecently expose parts of the body, appear transparent, or display offensive pictures, slogans, or obscene language that may inflict religious or cultural offence. Additionally, the main room is air-conditioned and could become cold. Hence, it is advisable to have a sweater, shawl, or scarf on hand in case you need it.
